Maternity bra vs nursing bra

Surprisingly, many people are not aware of the difference between a nursing bra and a maternity bra. However, it’s quite simple and both these kinds of bra are designed for specific conditions. A maternity bra is a bra which is designed to be worn during pregnancy and can be worn even after pregnancy if you decide not to breastfeed your child.

However, in case of a nursing bra, it is for those women who are nursing or breastfeeding their child after pregnancy. During pregnancy a woman’s breast tends to grow heavier and this can increase up to 3 cup size or even more. Therefore a maternity bra is designed in a way so that it can accommodate the changing breast size. A maternity bra is made up of stretch fabric which is flexible enough to support the increasing size of the breast. It combines all the features of a supportive bra and a comfortable garment. Pregnancy is a stage where in the breast tends to change and require maximum support. If you do not tend to take proper care then it would get deformed and might as well build in tension around neck and shoulder.

Some women tend to gain lots of weight around the breast, therefore they need extra support. Some maternity bras come with additional breast support. These bras come in various materials such as Lycra, cotton and even satin.
