Suresh Raina the Indian National Cricket Team batsman turned 33 today. His contribution to the team is something which no can ever forget and that to not by bat only but by his presence of mind while he is fielding. The greatest fielder of all time in cricket South African veteran Jonty Rhodes when asked about the greatest fielder of the present era he picked none other than Suresh Raina. In any part of the ground, he never misses an opportunity to save the runs for the team.

He is not a part of the Indian team and his comeback is also difficult as youngsters have taken his place, but he can’t be forgotten as Indian Premier League takes place every year and Suresh Raina is known as Mr. IPL. He has been outstanding in the IPL from the 1st season itself and holds many records in IPL. Whenever we talk about IPL we cannot forget his electrifying knock of 87 off 25 against Kings XI Punjab in 2014.

  1. He is the third batsman in the world to hit a T20I century.

  2. He is the first Indian to score centuries in all three formats of the game. 

  3. He is the only Indian to score centuries in both T20I and ODI World Cup.

  4. He is the first Indian player to score 6000 as well as 8000 runs in the Twenty20 career.

  5. He was the twelfth Indian player to score a Test century on debut.

Indian Premier League Records:

  1. He is the first-ever cricketer to reach 5,000 runs in IPL.

  2. He is the second-highest run-scorer in IPL history with 5230 runs.

  3. He holds the record for the most no. of catches (101) in the IPL.

  4. He is the first Indian and second after Chris Gayle to hit 100 sixes in the IPL.

  5. He has a record of most consecutive appearances for a team 158, Chennai Super Kings.

  6. He holds the record of most no. of matches by a player in IPL as he has played 193 matches in 12 seasons of IPL.

  7. He is the only player in history to score 350+ runs in every edition of the IPL.

  8. He is the first player to have scored over 400 runs in 7 consecutive ( 2008–2014) IPL seasons.

Champions League Twenty20 Records

  1. He is the highest-ranked run-scorer in the CLT20 (842 runs).

  2. He holds the record for 4th highest individual score (109*) in CLT20.

  3. He is at the second spot in terms of most number sixes smashed in CLT20 as he has smashed 39 sixes after Kieron Pollard 49 sixes. 

  4. He holds the record for scoring the most number of the fifties in Champions League T20 history (6).
